Garnacho ‘won’ number 17 with Rasmus Hojlund, what happened to Man Utd

Garnacho surprised everyone by unveiling his new shirt number, 17, which was initially expected to be worn by rookie Rasmus Hojlund at Old Trafford. This move indicates a potential rivalry among the Manchester United stars. Alejandro Garnacho’s brother, Roberto, shared images of the young player donning both the home and away versions of the new No. 17 shirt on his personal page. Interestingly, Garnacho also showcased an outfit for his soon-to-be-born son.

Garnacho, a talented young player who has shown significant progress under coach Erik ten Hag, has a promising future at Old Trafford. Initially, it appeared that he would be given the prestigious No. 7 shirt, a number he desired. However, that number is currently held by Mason Mount of Chelsea. As a result, Garnacho began the new season wearing the No. 49 jersey.

However, he has now switched to another number, 17, which has a connection to the No. 7 he desired. This number was previously worn by Fred, who left it vacant. According to the British press, rookie Rasmus Hojlund was expected to wear the No. 17 shirt at Old Trafford. Initially, it seemed Garnacho had won the battle for the shirt against the forward from Atalanta, but it appears that might not be the case.

Hojlund, who didn’t have a shirt number when he made his debut at Old Trafford, was expected to take the No. 11 shirt vacated by Mason Greenwood. This was due to a sudden change in circumstances for Manchester United, with another vacant shirt number – Greenwood’s No. 11. Initially, the club had intended to bring the English striker back after his personal life scandal, but due to the backlash from female players and the public, those plans were scrapped.

As a result, Hojlund is now expected to wear the No. 11 shirt, while Garnacho will don the No. 17. The Danish rookie is in good health and is set to make his Manchester United debut during the away match against Arsenal on September 3rd, in the fourth round of the English Premier League.
