Forward LeBron James is one of the finest players in NBA history, and he has done a great deal both in the league and internationally. Following Team USA’s recent loss in the FIBA World Cup in Germany, many have called for James to join the squad for the 2024 Olympics.
LeBron James’ latest Instagram tweet fueled speculation that he would wind up joining the 2024 Olympic team. LeBron James made a remark with the “eyes” emoji beneath a Sportscenter post depicting a prospective lineup of top NBA superstars on Team USA, leading many to believe he is implying he could compete in the 2024 Olympics.
There is no doubt that many fans would like to see LeBron James join the next generation of Team USA. The team must clearly avenge their failure in this FIBA World Cup by assembling a more talented roster capable of defeating their international opponents.
LeBron James averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game last season while shooting 50.0% from the field. He is still a dominating player and might help the US win gold at the 2024 Olympics.
LeBron James may not participate in the 2024 Olympics unless asked to do so by Nike
In general, many older superstars do not participate in Team USA since they prefer to spend their offseason recovering and preparing for the next season. In fact, according to Robert Horry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant may not participate in the 2024 Olympics unless Nike invites them to.
“It all depends on what Nike says.” If Nike tells those two guys, “Get your aas out there and we’ll give you x amount of dollars,” they will.
It will be intriguing to watch if LeBron James will eventually sign up for Team USA. A monetary incentive from Nike could be a motivating element for him next year, and we’ll see what happens.
