Jude Bellingham’s response to learning his EA FC 24 pace rating was priceless.
Bellingham’s performance in a 3-1 win against Scotland was the latest reminder of why the 20-year-old has recently been the darling of Spanish football.
The England player assisted Phil Foden’s opening, scored the second goal, then threaded his way through the Scottish midfield to put up Harry Kane for the third.
Bellingham’s performance was so good that a tiny group of previously angry Hampden Park fans applauded him when he was taken off the field at the end of Tuesday’s triumph.
Indeed, Bellingham, who has already earned 26 England appearances, has become the crowning gem in Real Madrid’s assault following his summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
The Birmingham-born midfielder has been Real Madrid’s leading scorer this season, and he was named La Liga’s Player of the Month for August.
While Bellingham claims to have fans throughout football, EA FC tends to overlook one facet of the Real Madrid star’s game: his speed.
Presenters questioned Bellingham in a video posted on Real Madrid’s YouTube what he believes his pace rating would be for the forthcoming game, which will be disclosed at the end of the month.
Bellingham replied: “I’ve got to be like, 84?”
After hearing his pace was only a 76 however, Bellingham’s jaw dropped. Team-mate Brahim Diaz then impersonated the midfielder’s running style, jokingly explaining: “You’re running like this all the time bro.”
Bellingham then gathered himself and responded: “You’re joking. I was more last year. So I’ve gone down?”
The presenter bluntly replied: “Yes. You’ve gone down.”
Bellingham has been given an 86 overall rating, an improvement on his 84 rating in last year’s edition of the game.
