Kyle Walker has long been known for his speed, but according to the latest EA Sports FC video game, the defender is no longer Manchester City’s fastest player.
The 33-year-old won the Premier League title with City last season and has had a trophy-laden tenure at the Etihad Stadium since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017.
Walker’s long-term future at City has been called into question, with his contract set to expire next summer and speculations of a move to Bayern Munich circulating.
Walker, on the other hand, put any concerns to rest after agreeing to a two-year contract deal with City that would keep him with Pep Guardiola’s side until the summer of 2026.
Walker has made 260 appearances for City and scored six goals in his sixth season at the Etihad Stadium.
Throughout his career, one of the defender’s primary characteristics has been his marauding runs from right-back and his pace, which has been regularly demonstrated by FIFA games.
Walker is no longer the quickest player in the City squad in the latest incarnation of the video game, which is due to be released later this month and will now be known as EA Sports FC after the partnership with FIFA ended, with a new signing made this summer now taking that title.
Winger Jeremy Doku joined City from Rennes in a reported £55.5 million deal, he has scored one goal and made two appearances since his arrival.
With that move, he has been given a pace rating of 91 by EA Sports, just pipping Walker, who still has an impressive rating of 90, though the right-back is upbeat about the change and believes the Belgium international is only ahead of him by five metres and that he is still faster.
“So I’ve seen my card,” he explained. Actually, I believe the ratings have dropped. I’m no longer the fastest at City.
“Jeremy scores a 91. He’s faster than me… by around five meters, we’ll say.
“Usain Bolt competes in 100m races, not five-metre races.” “I still think I’m faster.”
