Man Utd supporters were incensed by what Bruno Fernandes said following Bayern Munich’s defeat, comparing it to Roy Keane

Following their loss to Bayern Munich, Bruno Fernandes said something that infuriated Manchester United supporters.

United traveled to Bavaria on Wednesday night with the intention of surprising German Bundesliga winners Bayern.

But, Leroy Sane’s goal was made possible by a blunder made by Andre Onana, giving Bayern the lead.

Rasmus Hojlund scored in the second half to make it 2-1 after Serg Gnabry had made it 2-0, but Casemiro tied the score in the last moments before Mathys Tel made it 4-2. After Fernandes’ goal to make it 4-3, Erik ten Hag’s team had out of time to rally.

After the match, Fernandes said: “No one would expect us to come to Bayern and score three goals.

“I think no one would expect us to fight for the result and try to get something from the game.”

However, Fernandes’ comments have not gone down well amongst the United fanbase.

On social media, One said: “Imagine the Captain of Manchester United saying this… From Roy Keane to this.”

Another tweeted: “This is so embarrassing.”

A third fan added: “We’ve fallen off the Grand Canyon, our fans actually rate this guy and think he can lead us to success, we are cooked.”

Someone else wrote: “I love Bruno but this is appalling.”

Whilst a fifth commented: “This is embrassing to be honest.”

On the back of the defeat, United boss Ten Hag said: “Disappointed and when you score three goals in Munich, at the least you have to take a point and we didn’t.

“And you have to look in the mirror because the goals were easy giveaways.”

He added: “We were in the first 25 minutes better in the game than Munich and then that goal, it was so easy and it was not only Andre. If you see how easy Sane is going through and that has to do with determination, you don’t let players through so easy.”
