In an interview with GQ Sports to introduce the new brand shoe, Phoenix Suns point guard Devin Booker had a lot of positive things to say about what it means to play alongside Kevin Durant.
Booker expressed admiration for “Slim Reaper” (Kevin Durant’s nickname) and said that he always wore KD’s brand shoes during the early years of his basketball career:
“I wore a lot of Kevin’s shoes, especially in high school. Playing alongside him was a complete moment.”
Booker also shared the fact that he loves the signature “KD” on his teammate’s individual shoe lines:
“I always talk about it with him. I know he’ll bring back some classic styles this year. I saw the new colorways he brought into the dressing room and I thought this was nostalgia.”
Booker is known as a player with an impressive fashion style in the NBA basketball tournament. Before each match, he is often seen wearing flashy fashion outfits.
Finally, Booker told a story about how playing with Durant became a full-circle moment for him:
“It’s hard to put into words. A player for whom I have always had respect and always have. I don’t know if this is public information or not, but my bedroom used to be filled with pictures of Kevin Durant. I usually go to sleep after looking at KD on the wall every night. We are teammates now. I also had a tweet from 2011 or 2012 where I said KD was my favorite player, so it was all really full circle moments. I accept it and embrace it. That’s something that 20 or 25 years ago I would have thought was crazy.”
Durant and Booker averaged 62.7 of the team’s 114.2 points in the Phoenix Suns’ 11 playoff games (NBA playoffs) last year. Both also won gold medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with the US basketball team.
Now, the duo is looking ahead to the most anticipated season in Suns history with the club’s training camp scheduled to begin on October 3.
