After the red card in the match against Tottenham, Anfieldindex said midfielder Curtis Jones could be absent until the end of October.
The recent match against Tottenham was truly a forgettable 90 minutes for Liverpool. They received two red cards and lost 1-2 in the final seconds of the match, after midfielder Joel Matip’s own goal.
In particular, Curtis Jones can leave the field for 3 matches, after an ill-considered tackle on Yves Bissouma. Specifically, he will not be able to play in the trip to Brighton (October 8), the Merseyside derby against Everton (October 21), and the match against Nottingham Forest (October 29).
Liverpool has the right to appeal the penalty, as in the case of Alexis Mac Allister (the FA later removed the card), however, Jones’ tackle was quite clear and the organizers’ decision is difficult to change.
If the three-match ban is upheld, Jones is expected to return to action on November 1, when Liverpool faces Bournemouth, in their next League Cup tie.
The recent loss at Tottenham Stadium ended Liverpool’s unbeaten streak in the Premier League since the beginning of the season. However, Liverpool fans have the right to question many of the referee’s decisions in that match.
