‘1 goal – 100% pass accuracy’: The only bright point in the demoralizing defeat to Brighton was Hannibal Mejbri

Hannibal Mejbri was outstanding in Manchester United’s 1-3 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion last night.

The Tunisian international appeared in a couple pre-season friendlies for Manchester United but did not make an appearance before the international break in September. Hannibal Mejbri appeared to have joined Besiktas on loan, however the deal did not materialize.

Mejbri finally had the opportunity to impress coach Erik ten Hag yesterday. In the 64th minute, he entered the game and scored an honorable goal for the Red Devils with a beautiful long-range effort.

Aside from the goal, the 20-year-old completed 100% of his passes and dribbles and won four duels. He scored two crosses, made one successful tackle, and only lost possession of the ball once.

If Mason Mount is ruled out, Mejbri should start in midfield instead of Scott McTominay, who had a disappointing game against Brighton. The Scottish player made only 15 passes before being replaced in the final minutes of the game.He only won two duels and contributed very little to the team.
