Erling Haaland has communicated with the supporters of Manchester City in the wake of their stunning loss to Wolves by the score of 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.
A goal scored by Ruben Dias off of his own rebound and a goal scored by Hwang Hee-chan in the second half were enough to send City to a rare loss at Molineux. It was an uncharacteristically fragmented afternoon for City. An outstanding performance by the home team’s defense, led by seasoned center-back Craig Dawson, was able to hold Haaland in check. After he had some time to think about the defeat, the record-breaking forward expressed his regret to the supporters.
On Instagram, Haaland expressed his gratitude to his followers, writing, “Always grateful for your support. We will learn from yesterday and make sure we do better next time.”
The remainder of the league will be heartened by some of the chinks that may have appeared in the armor of the triple winner, while Haaland harbors the hope that regular order will be restored as quickly as possible. The fact that Rodri is still suspended for next weekend’s marquee match against Arsenal at The Emirates gives City’s opponents reason to hope that the Citizens will drop more points in the near future.
The next opportunity for City to ‘do better’ comes in the Champions League on Wednesday night when they go to take on RB Leipzig, a team whose playing style was one that was somewhat accommodating for Haaland during the previous season.
