The news that Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez would require surgery on his foot is a significant setback for the team’s injury situation.
Martinez has played for Manchester United this season and has made six appearances so far; however, he has experienced a setback in his recovery from a broken metatarsal injury that he sustained in April. As a result of the defender’s foot injury, which required him to undergo surgery for the second time, the athlete may not return to competition until 2024.
Due to the original foot injury that he sustained back in April, the Argentine was forced to have his first season playing in the Premier League cut short.
In addition, a statement issued by Manchester United club revealed the most recent injury setback.
According to a statement that was published on the organization’s website, “Lisandro Martinez will be out of action for an extended period due to an aggravation of the foot injury he suffered in April.”
The misfortune befell the Argentinian defender during our Premier League match against Arsenal earlier this month. Martinez showed incredible bravery by continuing to play in the subsequent two matches, which were against Brighton & Hove Albion and Bayern Munich.
As a direct consequence of this, the 25-year-old will be unavailable for the remainder of the Red Devils’ participation in the Champions League group stage, as well as their Carabao Cup fourth-round match against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on November 1. Martinez is also likely going to be sidelined for Manchester United’s trip to Newcastle in the Premier League in December. Additionally, Martinez is going to miss important matches against Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea.
The team managed by Erik ten Hag is currently in 10th place in the Premier League table. They have nine points after playing in their first seven matches.
