According to a source, Arsenal is considering signing Quinten Timber, Jurrien Timber’s twin, just months after acquiring him. Nevertheless, they will likely face stiff competition.
Timber was a big summer acquisition for Arsenal from Ajax, but because of a nasty injury he sustained early in his tenure, they won’t be able to play him for a while.
After 90min revealed that the Gunners were among the teams who admired Quinten, Jurrien’s twin, it has now surfaced that another Timber may have a future with Arsenal.
Quinten Timber is a midfielder, as opposed to his brother, who is a defender. Quinten now plays for Feyenoord, but they both grew at Ajax, the team from which Arsenal purchased Jurrien.
The Timber twins were in the Rotterdam team’s academy prior to their time at Ajax, it is true. One year after Quinten Timber left Ajax, Feyenoord acquired him from Utrecht in 2022.
Timber made 30 appearances across all competitions in his first season at Feyenoord, helping his new team win the Eredivisie. Additionally, 90min claims that scouts from Arsenal have taken notice of his achievements.
Apart from Arsenal, scouts from Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, and Monaco are reportedly fans of Quinten Timber.
Timber is still under contract with Feyenoord at De Kuip until 2026. However, the 22-year-old has already acknowledged that he is open to making a high-profile move in the future.
When the time comes to sell Timber, it is unclear what kind of price Arne Slot’s side would ask for him. In July, Arsenal paid an initial €40 million—which might increase to €45 million—for his brother.
Arsenal’s more defensive options in Quinten’s area of the middle of midfield are Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny, and Jorginho; their more advanced choices are Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Emile Smith Rowe, and Fabio Vieira.
Both Jorginho and Elneny have one year left on their contracts; Partey has also been occasionally linked to leaving; and Smith Rowe may be beginning to think about his own future.
Quinten Timber has made six appearances for Feyenoord this season as a center midfielder and three as an attacking one. Paradoxically, he has actually contributed more to goals when he has begun from a slightly deeper position.
This season, he has also earned his Champions League debut, as Arsenal has made their eagerly anticipated comeback to the competition.
