Drake has released his eighth studio album, “For All the Dogs.” Current rap and pop singers such as 21 Savage, J. Cole, Sexyy Red, and others make appearances on the album. Many people were astonished to see Phoenix Suns great basketball player Kevin Durant named as an A&R on the project.
Durant has been producing music with Drake for some time. Durant starred in Drake and Lil Durk’s 2021 video for “Laugh Now Cry Later.” He was also addressed in Drake’s song “All the Parties” featuring Chief Keef, saying, “Me and KD ’bout to turn up the art.”
Drake also offered Durant a 34th birthday tribute on his Instagram stories in September 2022. “More life to my exec producer @easymoneysniper.”
Durant was recently spotted in the audience at a Drake concert, which makes sense now that his involvement with the new album has been exposed.
The Creative KD
A&R stands for artist and repertoire, and it usually refers to someone who assists the artist in selecting rhythms and crafting the sound for a production. It’s unclear what Durant contributed to Drake’s new album, but one guy certainly isn’t a fan of his collaboration: musician turned podcaster Joe Budden.
During the most recent episode of “The Joe Budden Podcast,” Budden remarked that Drake is “rapping for the children,” saying that he is unaware that his content isn’t age-appropriate and is now rapping to the youth.
Drizzy turned to Instagram after hearing it to read Budden like no other. He stunted on him and ruthlessly compared their wildly different rap careers.
