In the event that Manchester United chooses to fire Erik ten Hag, Casemiro appears to have stated clearly who they should hire.

Ten Hag, the current manager, is facing mounting pressure to improve the team’s performance following United’s dismal 23/24 season debut.

On Wednesday evening, the Old Trafford supporters voiced their annoyance following their 3-0 loss to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

Since then, there has been a significant decrease in the likelihood that Ten Hag will be fired by United, as candidates for the position include Roberto De Zerbi, Graham Potter, and Julian Nagelsmann.

But Zinedine Zidane, the former Real Madrid manager who guided the Spanish La Liga powerhouses to three consecutive Champions League titles, is currently the favorite to succeed Ten Hag.

Casemiro previously expressed his appreciation of Zidane in an interview with The Guardian, wherein he talked well of the France legend.

He said: “Even today I get a little nervous talking to him. I tell him he doesn’t know what he meant for us, for me.

Yeah, I tell him that: you took ‘98 away but it didn’t change anything. Also, knowing him now, I can say he deserves it. He’s incredible: the humility, how he expresses football. He treats us with so much affection and love.”

“He’s very insistent; he always, always says: ‘Case, you can do more: arrive from the second line, feed midfielders, bring the ball out cleanly.’ This year, maybe I’ve had more protagonism with the ball, but I still know my job: rob the ball, give it to my teammates,” Casemiro added.

“But Zizou is pesado, heavy going: always talking to me, wanting more. He says: ’ I’m not asking you to do something you can’t do; I’m asking you to do something you can.’ He trusts me a lot.”
