During an interview with the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, the opinionated commentator asserted that the captain of Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes has the ability to play for Manchester City.
Tim Sherwood thinks this £47 million guy may play for Manchester City even though he’s had a rather bad season.
Regarded by Manchester United’s official website as a player with “amazing endurance,” the 29-year-old is regarded as one of the league’s top midfield players.
But despite coming back strong the previous season, the Portuguese international’s play has declined significantly this year as well.
Tim Sherwood, though, thinks Bruno Fernandes is still talented enough to play for Manchester City.
“Bruno could play for Man City, in my opinion. He has the qualities to be able to do that. But he will [have the right attitude] if he was with Pep Guardiola. He hasn’t got the attitude because he’s with [Erik] ten Hag”, he said.
Such a midfielder would not function under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, even if Tim Sherwood is referring to the Carabao Cup winner at his peak at Manchester United.
If Kevin De Bruyne isn’t already a high-risk creator for the Citizens, then he is one of the best players of his generation when it comes to final balls.
Furthermore, De Bruyne’s risks in possession are worth giving up control because of how expertly he executes them.
To be able to play for Manchester City, Bruno Fernandes would need to shape his game similarly.
Even though Pep Guardiola might be able to assist the former Sporting CP attacker, the player as he is now would not be acceptable at the Etihad Stadium.
