In three crucial statistics, Darwin Nunez has surpassed Erling Haaland as the Liverpool forward continues to disprove skeptics.
Liverpool spent heavily on Nunez last summer, but the Uruguayan struggled to adjust to life at Anfield, squandering several good opportunities and receiving a red card on his debut.
However, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has consistently defended Nunez publicly, stating that it will take time for him to establish himself as a top player for the club.
Since the beginning of the 23/24 season, Nunez’s performance has significantly improved.
Nunez has contributed to four goals assisted and seven goals tallied across all competitions so far this season. Moreover, following his emphatic victory over Bournemouth on Wednesday, his minutes-per-goal ratio has surpassed that of Liverpool sensation Mohamed Salah.
It has now come to light that Nunez outperforms Haaland of Manchester City in three crucial statistics as well.
Nunez holds the number one position in the Premier League in terms of goals-assisted/90, non-penalty goals-assisted/90, and total shots/90, as determined by FBREF.
In response to Nunez’s victory over Bournemouth, Jurgen Klopp stated, “Darwin displays his prowess and effectively seals the game for our team.
“That is an incredible objective. “There were five, six, or seven much greater opportunities throughout the game, but that was the goal we needed.”
Klopp responded as follows when asked if the gusty conditions assisted Nunez in scoring: “It’s fantastic if you can accomplish that! That would be extraordinary. “You would have to inquire with him; I simply enjoyed the goal.”
This coming weekend, Liverpool returns to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon against newly-promoted Luton Town.
