At the start of 2020, Grammy-winning Burna Boy moved into a seven-bedroom residence in Lagos, the commercial and artistic capital of Nigeria. Burna constructed the two-story Lekki mansion under the design of his architect Akose Enebeli so that he could reside alone.
Upon witnessing Enebeli’s blueprints for his forthcoming domicile, Burna was positively “mind blown” and subsequently acquired numerous properties across the globe. Burna is a renowned rapper, performer, and composer from Nigeria. Enebeli explains to AD, “He just kept saying, ‘Wow, wow, you’re bursting my brain.'”
A tranquil 13,000-square-foot sanctuary in the midst of hectic Lagos, a megacity with 20 million inhabitants, is the result of Enebeli’s design. The colossal structure features a tranquil beige and gray exterior and is furnished with every contemporary luxury amenity. On the interior are lofty ceilings, a game room, salons, and a personal theater. Additionally, ample garage space and tall windows are provided.
By dividing the 3,700-square-foot structure into two distinct sections, Enebeli and his collaborators intended to optimize the use of natural light.
An area that houses a recording facility, a fitness center, and accommodations for visiting artists. The alternative area is more private in Burna’s opinion. It features his principal bedroom suite, a private terrace, and a space where he and his closest associates congregate.
The downstairs rooms are a continuous, open space in which one interior flows directly into the next in the absence of doors. Notable is the principal living room, which features a substantial window that provides a view of the meticulously maintained gardens.
Approximately 384 miles away, Burna was born in Port Harcourt, a region of the Nigerian state of Rivers. The compound in its entirety evokes the serene ambiance of the nearby lagoons, waterways, and vegetation. Burna declares, “I have an abundance of Rivers stuff and water sounds.”It is merely water-inspired in nature. It is tranquil. I am in communication with nature.
The interior of the home was intended to have entirely white walls. Burna acquired the monumental gilded insect components, the marble sculpture of a half-horse, the bust of a woman, and the Throne of Grace in Lagos’s Throne of Grace. The bicycle sculpture was manufactured at Atelier 225.
