Enzo Fernandez has hinted at a new team ahead of Chelsea’s match against Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites will host Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night in what is expected to be a heated match.

The 22-year-old midfielder posted a pre-match graphic preview of the tie on his Instagram stories, implying that he will be involved in some way.

Fernandez was not in the Blues’ matchday squad for last weekend’s 2-0 loss to Brentford at Stamford Bridge, so his probable return would be a significant boost.

Pochettino stated last month: “Both Enzo and Misha felt something in training yesterday, small muscle injuries for them both.

We hoped they would be okay to be in the squad but unfortunately they aren’t quite ready. Neither of them are big issues but we didn’t want to take any risks.

With Enzo especially, he and his partner have just had a baby so maybe that was a reason why he was a little uncomfortable yesterday. He will now rest and recover and hopefully be back with the team as soon as possible.”

Fast forward a week or so, and Fernandez appears to be on his way back to the matchday squad, based on his recent social media activity. Pochettino teased his return to his previous club ahead of what is expected to be a ‘really challenging’ test for Chelsea.

“Like always, we need to pay attention to our opponent like happened last game against Blackburn or Brentford,” Pochettino said. “You cannot underestimate the opponent. Always our mentality is to see in which area we need to improve. It’s going to be a really tough opponent.”

While Fernandez gave a pre-match preview of the Tottenham game on his Instagram story, this does not necessarily imply he will start, but it normally suggests he will be involved in some manner. From 4 p.m., you can follow our live coverage of the game on our blog.
