Pep Guardiola fully praised Man City’s classy rookie before the Champions League match

Pep Guardiola has lauded Josko Gvardiol’s remarkable assimilation into the Manchester City environment, characterizing the defender as “extraordinary in his professionalism.”

Manchester City on X: "PEP We knew he [Josko Gvardiol] was an incredible person. That is what I look for first. He can play centre-back, we decided to play a back

The Croatian international joined City from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in the summer and has had an outstanding start to his Etihad career.

Gvardiol, who is only 21 years old, has excelled in Europe and the Premier League despite having only recently matured. His positional versatility, exceptional technique, physical prowess, and tactical awareness have all contributed to his success.

And while addressing the media at a pre-match press conference on Monday, prior to City’s most recent Champions League group match at home against Young Boys of Switzerland on Tuesday, Guardiola expressed his admiration for Gvardiol’s start to his City career.

Guardiola: Let's finish the job and try to seal UCL last-16 qualification

“He has perfectly settled in,” declared Guardiola.

“We were all aware that he was an extraordinary individual.” That is my initial search criteria. Even though he is capable of playing center back, we decided to utilize him in a back four, both offensively and defensively at full back.

“He possesses prior experience.” He has participated in the European Cup and the World Cup…

“At Leipzig, he played to win and was a two-time Pokal (German Cup) champion.” He performs frequently for Croatia.

Training: Young Boys clash on the horizon

He possesses an impressive amount of experience for a 21-year-old.

“He is extremely receptive to our ideas and desires.” He demonstrates extraordinary professionalism at each training session.

“We are extremely delighted.”

City faces the Swiss side once more on Tuesday, just two days after claiming a convincing 3-1 victory away in Bern.

The Swiss champions resisted vehemently until the reigning European champions secured the victory with two late goals in the second half.

And despite the fact that City is motivated by the fact that a victory would ensure qualification for the knockout stages, Guardiola anticipates yet another formidable challenge.

The City manager stated, “I hold Young Boys in the highest regard.”

“My colleague has most likely viewed the game.” They will make an adjustment similar to how we must make one.

“Playing there always leaves a positive impression, which is why I was extremely satisfied with the team.”

“Something needs to be adjusted, and with any luck, we will have the proper energy.”

“We typically conduct ourselves well at home in the Champions League.” “If an opportunity presents itself to qualify, one must seize it.”
