Although 29-year-old British actor Damson Idris hasn’t quite made it to the top of the Hollywood household name ladder, he has accumulated enough wealth in his relatively brief career in show business to pay $3.85 million for a newly remodeled house in a posh neighborhood that winds through the foothills above Studio City in Los Angeles.
In addition to costarring with Kate Beckinsale in the critically panned science fiction action movie “Outside the Wire” earlier this year, Idris also acted in the overlooked 2018 coming-of-age drama “Farming.” But Idris’s rise to fame and wealth has really been made possible by his leading part as a teenage drug dealer in the FX crime drama “Snowfall.” In reality, Idris has been given a producer credit for “Snowfall’s” upcoming fifth season, which is set to broadcast in 2019.
Built in 1964, the two-story house has five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. It has undergone major renovations recently. Marketing brochures refer to it as a “stunning Montecito modern residence” with designer finishes, light-colored European wood floorboards, and a home automation system that manages security, sound, and lighting.
The formal living and dining rooms are positioned on either side of the center hall entry, which is slightly larger than 4,700 square feet. Through an oversized butler’s pantry, the formal dining room is connected to an elegantly designed eat-in kitchen that is furnished with dazzling white marble (or marble-like) counters, gold-toned fixtures, and snow-white Shaker-style cabinetry. The family area that adjoins is open to the back via a wall of floor to ceiling windows. The four guest bedrooms are divided into two with separate bathrooms and two with a large Jack-and-Jill-style bathroom. The main bedroom has a walk-in closet, a spa-like shower, and a peaceful view of the mountains.
Slabbed into the steep, custom-planted slope behind the house, the backyard is enviably private and not overly huge, thanks to simple landscaping that makes upkeep nearly straightforward. It has a large area of concrete terracing, a trapezoidal plunge pool and spa, an evergreen Astroturf patch, and built-in benches and a grill.
