Since joining Chelsea in January, Enzo Fernández has almost always been on the field. However, on Monday night, he was taken off the field before the hour due to what appeared to be an ankle knock.
Enzo most likely sustained the injury from the red card tackle made in the first half by Cristian Romero, his international teammate, who was subsequently sent off by referee Michael Oliver after a VAR review. Cole Palmer converted the ensuing penalty with ease, sending Chelsea into a thrilling, hilarious, and maybe historic victory.
Thankfully, it appears that Enzo’s injury isn’t too serious as the midfield player himself posted on social media to say he’s recovering for this weekend’s match against Manchester City, who will be trying to down our spirits before the final international break of the year.
“Thank you for all your messages. I am good, working in my recovery to get to the weekend in the best way,” Instagram/Enzo Fernández.
Enzo’s presence on the field improves our team tremendously, so hopefully he’ll be well.
