Raheem Sterling says of his £45 million Chelsea teammate, ‘I love how he plays’

Following his £45 million summer transfer from Manchester City to Chelsea, Cole Palmer has been flourishing (Evening Standard), and in an interview with beIN SPORTS, Raheem Sterling gave him high marks.

The 21-year-old not only assisted during the match but also pulled Chelsea even in their 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Monday.

His third goal of the season for his new team came from the penalty spot, and this one in North London was no exception.

Raheem Sterling praised Cole Palmer brilliantly

Palmer is an astute football player, according to Sterling, who also says he likes the way the young English player approaches the game.

“Cole’s always someone that I’ve got along with from my time at City. I love how he plays, how intelligent he is on the ball even for his age and he has that ‘I want to show’ character.

“He doesn’t hide behind anything. He’s a person that wants to lead on the pitch, so he’s fantastic in that sense,” Sterling told beIN SPORTS

Chelsea’s two first-choice wingers

Palmer and Sterling are currently Chelsea’s two primary options on the wings, particularly in light of the Tottenham match.

Sterling made a concerted effort to take advantage of Ange Postecoglou’s high line with his pace. It was the kind of wing play that fans like to see.

Only Nicolas Jackson has scored more goals in the Premier League than both of them combined (three each, including a hat-trick on Monday), albeit Palmer’s goals have all obviously been penalties.

Still, Palmer and Sterling—possibly the finest player this season—have been among Chelsea’s best players.

Palmer and Sterling will next see their former teammates when City visits Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea on Sunday.

Both players must perform at the highest level once more if Mauricio Pochettino’s team is to win.

Palmer will play against players like Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland in this match; Jason Cundy, a former Chelsea player, recently compared the Chelsea player to the City playmaker.
