Erik Ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has updated the fitness of Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund, both Danish players.
Both Danes were hurt throughout the match; Rasmus Hojlund’s injury, in particular, worried Erik ten Hag because it looked like a hamstring strain.
After the final international break of the year, the Dutchman’s injuries will likely cause him some concern as the Red Devils’ fixtures get harder.
Update on Ten Hag’s injuries
Speaking to the media following Luton Town’s victory over Rob Edwards’ team, the Dutchman seemed worried while discussing the two.
“In this moment, I can’t tell anything about it because I don’t know,” Ten Hag said at his press conference, when asked about Hojlund’s issue.
“We do an assessment and we have to wait 24 hours for the conclusion. So we’ll give the medical team 24 hours to see what the problem is, if there is a problem.
On Eriksen’s injury, an awkward landing, he said: “He slipped but it’s the same – we have to do the assessment, set the diagnosis, set the conclusion and then we’ll know where we are.”
Missing a Danish pair would be devastating
Hojlund, a 20-year-old attacker who has yet to score in the Premier League, has been an integral member of the Red Devils squad. He had a great through ball to Alejandro Garnacho, but the Argentine misread his pass, thus Hojlund should have had an assist.
Should the Dane’s ailment turn out to be a hamstring strain, United will suffer a severe setback as their star players have suffered an extraordinary number of muscle injuries.
Regarding Eriksen, the midfielder is currently relied to function in the engine room rather than Mason Mount, so his extended absence would be devastating.
In the event that the former Atalanta forward is sidelined for an extended amount of time, Ten Hag might have to resort to Anthony Martial, who has outstayed his welcome at Old Trafford.
