Erik ten Hag received his third yellow card of the season on November 11 during Manchester United’s victory over Luton Town. As a consequence, he will be suspended for one match.
On Saturday, the Red Devils defeated Luton 1-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League. Victor Lindelof scored in the 59th minute on a fortunate rebound that was awarded to him following a corner kick.
As his team maintained a narrow one-goal lead, the game’s tensions increased. As a result, Ten Hag lodged several complaints regarding the referees’ decisions. Due to an incident involving a throw-in, he was issued a booking.
The Dutchman explained the reason he was booked after the match, stating (as reported by the Manchester Evening News):
“The throw-in portion. It was the second occasion, and our ball was crystal clear and evident. It was my remark that led to my reservation.”
Regarding the possibility of a fine, Ten Hag responded:
“Facilities are not provided for bookings; players who receive a red card will incur a fine.” The manager, not so. There comes a time when both you and I must accept decisions; I should do the same.”
The Dutchman is currently prohibited from being sidelined for Manchester United’s post-international break match against Everton at Goodison Park. In lieu of that, Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve Mclaren will be in the dugout as assistants.
For the game, Ten Hag expressed confidence in his coaching staff by stating:
“We have an exceptionally capable coaching staff, and they will assume control.” “Every member of my coaching staff is exceptionally qualified.”
Ten Hag was booked twice this season, once in a 2-0 loss at Tottenham Hotspur and again in a 3-1 loss at Arsenal.
