Damson Idris and his girlfriend are content in their newly renovated, $39 million studio city residence

Although Damson Idris, a 29-year-old British actor, has not yet attained the highest echelons of celebrity status in Hollywood, he has amassed sufficient wealth in his brief career to purchase a recently renovated home in a posh neighborhood winding through the foothills above the popular Studio City in Los Angeles for $3.85 million.

Idris and Kate Beckinsale shared the underrated roles of co-stars in the 2018 coming-of-age film “Farming” and the unpopular Netflix science fiction action film “Outside the Wire” earlier this year. Nevertheless, it was Idris’s breakthrough performance as a youthful smuggler in the FX crime drama “Snowfall” that initiated his rise to prominence and financial success. Indeed, Idris has been credited as a producer on the upcoming fifth season of “Snowfall,” which is scheduled to make its premiere the following year.

Built in 1964, the two-story residence features five bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, and has undergone extensive renovations in recent times. Marketing materials characterize the property as a “stunning Montecito modern residence” complete with designer finishes, pale European oak floorboards, and a home automation system that regulates lighting, sound, and security.

The open floor plan of the slightly more than 4,700-square-foot residence showcases a central hall entry that is flanked by formal living and dining rooms. The dining room is connected to the eat-in kitchen through an oversized butler’s pantry. The kitchen is elegantly appointed with gold-toned fixtures and gleaming white and boldly veined black and white marble (or marble-like) countertops that adorn the snow-white Shaker-style cabinetry. The adjacent family room is enveloped in floor-to-ceiling windows that provide access to the rear. Two of the four guest bedrooms are equipped with private bathrooms, whereas the remaining two are connected by a spacious Jack-and-Jill-style tub. The master bedroom features a spa-like bathroom, a walk-in closet, and a tranquil mountain view.

Designed to be nearly maintenance-free, the enviably private backyard is a compact area that is not overly expansive. It is recessed into the steep, custom-planted slope that runs behind the residence. It includes a trapezoidal plunge pool and spa, extensive concrete terracing, an integrated grill and benches, a patch of evergreen Astroturf, and a built-in grill.
