The Sun said that Getafe is eager to keep Mason Greenwood in its ranks after the current campaign. The 22-year-old forward for Manchester United is now on loan at the Spanish team, where he hopes to revive his career and ultimately sign a permanent deal.
Greenwood advanced through United’s levels. In the summer of 2019, he went straight from their Under-18 setup to the first team. Over the following few seasons, he continued to grow and gain recognition as one of the world’s top young talents.
However, the England international’s rise was stopped when he was the target of grave accusations. The accusations against him were later withdrawn after he refuted them. He did, however, wind up missing over a year of football play.
He was sent out on loan by United in the summer because they were not prepared to have him back in the lineup. Getafe was able to secure him on a season-long loan on the transfer deadline. For the Spanish team, the 22-year-old has appeared in ten games and has helped to score six goals.
Getafe believes Greenwood might eventually be a terrific addition to their club as he is gradually returning to his best. They are so trying to persuade the player that Spain is where his future is. In an attempt to offer the England international a long-term contract, they have even made an attempt to meet with United executives.
Even though the 22-year-old’s deal with the English team expires in the summer of 2025, Getafe believes they can convince him to leave Manchester. The Spanish team believes that since their offer will relieve United of Greenwood’s salary burden, United may find it appealing.
The Spanish team will try to bring him back on loan if they are unable to persuade United to grant them a permanent contract. In the meanwhile, United may agree to a permanent move since they risk severe criticism from supporters should they attempt to bring him back into the starting lineup anytime soon.
