Alan Shearer considers Marcus Rashford, a forward for Manchester United, to have appeared “devastated” and “extremely unhappy” during his time with the club this season.
During the inaugural season of Erik ten Hag as manager, 26-year-old Marcus Rashford scored 30 goals across all competitions. The academy graduate from Manchester United was awarded a lucrative new contract in the summer in recognition of his outstanding performance. However, despite this, he has encountered difficulties in replicating his remarkable form thus far this season.
On Saturday, United defeated Luton Town 1-0. The versatile forward, who has scored only once in 15 appearances for United this season, struck a frustrated figure. However, Shearer is adamant that Rashford has appeared an entirely different player while representing England.
Shearer replied to Premier League Productions when asked to analyze the reasons for Marcus Rashford’s poor form: “I believe the straightforward response is that we do not know, as our analysis does not pertain to the football club itself. However, what we are observing is an individual who appears to be extremely miserable. It is impossible to perform at your highest level when he has a mischievous appearance.
“It is uncertain whether he currently believes he is superior to the situation at Old Trafford. Whether he is dissatisfied with recruitment, given that his objectives increased significantly from the previous year. This season, the club has not targeted it as much as he may have desired or anticipated.
“You are not observing a joyful footballer or a joyful individual in Marcus Rashford at this time.” “He appears to be a different player when representing England versus Manchester United.”
Alan Shearer claims that Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has appeared “sombre” and “unjoyful” this season.
Rashford’s unsatisfactory performance has occurred concurrently with United’s most abysmal start to a season since the 1962/63 campaign; Ten Hag is under duress due to this dire run. The strain on the Dutchman was alleviated by consecutive league victories prior to the international break; however, his performances against Fulham and Luton were distinctly unconvincing.
An earlier report by The Times stated that the Manchester United hierarchy had reportedly compiled a shortlist of two candidates, including Ruben Amorim and Zinedine Zidane, to potentially replace Ten Hag in the wake of embarrassing losses to Manchester City and Newcastle.
Despite the fact that some sectors contested those assertions, Ten Hag appears to be on even more tenuous ground and will need to maintain his point totals until the Premier League season resumes in two weeks.
