Cole Palmer has earned his first call-up to the senior England side prior to their qualifying matches for the European Championship against Malta and North Macedonia.
The 21-year-old has been playing for Chelsea in excellent form lately. In his last six games, he has scored four goals; his most recent was a composed penalty kick that helped us draw 4–4 with Manchester City.
Palmer has received recognition from Mauricio Pochettino and has contributed four assists for the Blues this season. The Chelsea head coach said, “He’s still a young kid but it’s amazing what he is giving to the team. I am so happy for him and happy for the team. We needed a player like him.”
Palmer’s intended selection for the next set of international matches was the England Under-21 squad. This week, they compete in the Under-21 European Championship qualifying round against Serbia and Northern Ireland.
Palmer, however, has earned a promotion to the England senior squad for the first time, joining Chelsea teammates Conor Gallagher and Levi Colwill, in light of his impressive performances.
