Former Manchester City fullback Micah Richards believes Liverpool have a greater chance of winning the Premier League this season than Arsenal.
Micah Richards, a former Manchester City defender, has argued that Liverpool have a greater chance than Arsenal of winning the Premier League this season. Despite being in first place for the majority of the previous season, the Gunners ultimately failed to secure the championship, trailing Manchester City by five points.
At the top of the standings, the beginning of this season has been extraordinarily competitive; City is presently in first place, one point ahead of the Reds and the Gunners, who are in second and third place, respectively. Additionally, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are closing in, with the Lillywhites trailing the Citizens by a mere two points and Villa by a mere three points.
When asked which of Arsenal and Liverpool he prefers, former England international Richards says Liverpool is the superior option due to the star power of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Richards responded to the question of which team has a greater chance of winning the championship on The Rest Is Football podcast: “I would suggest Liverpool.
“Simply because both Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah had, by all accounts, outstanding performances today (against Brentford).” Alan Shearer, an icon of Newcastle United, subsequently commented and praised Van Dijk’s performance against the Bees.
Shearer continued, “He played admirably.” He reverted to his peak performance and read the game flawlessly.
“Moreover, Liverpool will invariably score goals due to the talent they possess at the forward position.”
