Victor Osimhen, a transfer target for Chelsea, has spoken strongly about the team he wants to play for in the midst of his uncertain future at Napoli. After his heroics in Serie A, the 24-year-old is still strongly linked to a move to the Premier League.
He said on the The Obi One Podcast : “I don’t have a favourite Premier League team but I’ve two jerseys: Chelsea and Man United. Many friends of mine are Chelsea fans, few are Man United fans”. Osimhen also added: “Premier League is the most appreciated league by every African player – it’s a huge league.”
Osimhen’s contract with Naples expires in 2025, but he has scored goals this season and has maintained his excellent form. In eight league games, the Nigerian international has netted six goals despite continuing to struggle with a hamstring issue.
Napoli was able to hold onto him during the summer, thus a January transfer window move has been mooted. The Italian giants are reportedly trying their hardest to extend his contract, despite ongoing issues stemming from a disagreement over a possible release clause.
A number of teams are monitoring Osimhen’s condition at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in advance of January, including Chelsea. Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal have reportedly expressed interest as well.
