Mohamed Salah’s goal-scoring consistency is alarming, but so is his availability, as he is now Jurgen Klopp’s most-used player ever.
Klopp has been a manager for more than 22 years, with Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool, working with a diverse range of players.
Throughout his career, he has had the luxury of calling on players on a weekly basis, and Liverpool has been no different.
But it wasn’t until this season that Klopp’s goalkeeper at Dortmund, Roman Weidenfeller, was eclipsed as the player with the most minutes under the German’s supervision.
That honor now goes to Salah, who has played a total of 26,337 minutes under Klopp – and counting – surpassing Weidenfeller’s 25,156 earlier this season.
It is a tribute to Salah’s extraordinary dependability, as he has missed only three games due to injury or illness, with the rest of his absences being due to Liverpool forcing him to rest.
After rising from fourth to first this season, the 31-year-old will look to increase his lead in minutes played under Klopp.
Salah has even surpassed Roberto Firmino’s tally of 25,095 minutes following the Brazilian’s summer move to Saudi Arabia; the former No. 9 is now fourth on the list, with Neven Subotic (25,107) one position above following his spell at Dortmund under Klopp.
Of course, this is not the only category in which Salah has excelled during Klopp’s tenure, as the winger also holds the record for scoring the most goals and contributing the most assists.
Sadio Mane is the next greatest with 120 goals in 322 appearances, although his 87 assists are higher than Firmino, who set up his teammates 79 times.
Salah is just outstanding, and we are privileged to be watching his brilliance.
