Reece James, the captain of Chelsea, has confirmed that he visited a Blues supporter who had a heart attack during their match against Manchester City.
James disclosed on Instagram that he went to see a fan who had a heart attack during the match and had been declared clinically dead for twenty minutes. The medical emergency occurred at Stamford Bridge, but the fan’s life was saved by the medics who fought valiantly to do so.
Sharing via his Instagram Stories, James wrote: “I visited a hospital this evening to see a Chelsea fan that had a heart attack at our game against Man City, he was dead for 20 mins and the medics managed to save his life. He was a strong man with an amazing family, I’m so happy he’s recovering well.
Life is so precious and unpredictable. Anything could happen at any point, so enjoy every moment even when things are tough. Be kind and always show love, you never know what people are going through or what is round the corner.
Stay well and see you soon. Reece.”
One of the most competitive matches of the season so far saw Chelsea defeat City 4–4, thanks to a penalty kick from Cole Palmer in the 95th minute. Despite falling behind three times during the game, the Blues managed to salvage a point.
Following the international break, James will play for Chelsea again at St. James’ Park against Newcastle. The England team for its matches against North Macedonia and Malta does not include the right-back.
