Reece James reveals that he went to see a fan who suffered a heart attack during the Manchester City game and was saved by emergency staff.
Chelsea captain Reece James has stated that he paid a hospital visit to a Blues supporter who had a heart attack during the team’s 0-0 draw with Manchester City.
James revealed on Instagram that he went to see a fan who had a heart attack during the game and was declared clinically dead for 20 minutes. The medical emergency occurred at Stamford Bridge, but medics fought to save the fan’s life and were successful.
Sharing via his Instagram Stories, James wrote: “I visited a hospital this evening to see a Chelsea fan that had a heart attack at our game against Man City, he was dead for 20 mins and the medics managed to save his life. He was a strong man with an amazing family, I’m so happy he’s recovering well.
‘Life is so precious and unpredictable. Anything could happen at any point, so enjoy every moment even when things are tough. Be kind and always show love, you never know what people are going through or what is round the corner.
Stay well and see you soon. Reece.”
Chelsea’s meeting against City was one of the most dramatic of the season, concluding 4-4 thanks to a 95th-minute penalty by Cole Palmer. The Blues trailed three times throughout the game but came back to get a point.
After the international break, James will play for Chelsea against Newcastle at St James’ Park. The right-back has been left out of England’s squads for matches against Malta and North Macedonia.
