After Luis Diaz’s game-winning double for Colombia against Brazil, Alisson Becker whispered something to him

It was only fitting that Diaz be the winner of yesterday’s World Cup qualifier, given his father was present in the stands to see the action.

Thus it turned out. Gabriel Martinelli’s goal placed Brazil up, and it appeared that Colombia would lose badly. But Luis Diaz stepped up with fifteen minutes remaining. After beating Alisson with a header, he scored the winner four minutes later with another header.

The Liverpool goalkeeper, particularly from his Reds teammate, will have been frustrated with his two defeats. However, Alisson is a large man, and Colombian publication El Espectador talked to Diaz about what the Brazil goaltender had told him at full time following the match.

“Alisson told me he’s very happy because he knows what we went through,” said the 26-year-old.

“He is a great person, I admire him a lot because off the field he is a great human being and he gave me all the support I could have to be calm in those difficult moments.”

Alisson shares the love

Fortunately, video of this incredibly beautiful moment between two friends and teammates was captured.

Humildad: Alisson Becker se rindió ante Luis Díaz y tuvo un maravilloso gesto con el Colombiano

In an early morning photo shared by the X account LFC Transfer Room, the two Liverpool players are seen cuddling up on the field at full time.

Alisson gives you a big hug and says, “Te quiero mucho amigo,” which translates to, “I love you so much, my friend.” He’s always had nothing but praise for Diaz, and this shows how true their friendship is.

Brazilian supporters might not be overly happy to witness their goalkeeper giving such a warm embrace to the player who just defeated them. For Liverpool supporters, though, it’s simply incredible.

Alisson is one member of the Reds team who will be fully aware of what Lucho has been going through these past several weeks.

Luis Diaz

Jose, the 31-year-old’s own father, sadly drowned after going missing in 2021. The entire football community supported Ali back then, so he will understand how much it means to Diaz to receive the same support.

Football loses all value in those situations, and Alisson’s response last night was the ideal example of that.

They will be celebrating together the next time Lucho scores on the same pitch as him. What a gentleman our goalie is.
