Marcus Rashford and Andre Onana appear to have been forced to miss time for international duty, adding to Manchester United’s already dire injury situation.

After a confrontation with Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold following England’s 2-0 victory over Malta in their Euro 2024 qualifying match, Rashford looked worse. At the hour mark, Cole Palmer took his place after receiving medical attention on the Wembley pitch.

In Cameroon’s World Cup qualifying match against Mauritius, Onana got the start in goal. The nature of the injury that compelled the Reds’ goalkeeper to leave the game after 81 minutes is unknown.

Both manager Rigobert Song of Cameroon and Gareth Southgate have refrained from commenting on the injuries sustained by their respective players. Prior to their second match of this November international break, both will probably give an update.

Due to injury, United has had a difficult few months, and Erik ten Hag has lost a number of his regular first-team selections. Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund of Denmark were forced to leave their international assignments after suffering injuries during the 1-0 victory over Luton Town just before halftime.

With a knee injury, Eriksen is anticipated to miss the remainder of the month, and Hojlund will be hoping to recover in time for the trip to Everton the following weekend following a minor hamstring strain. Lisandro Martinez will be sidelined until the new year due to a recurrence of the foot injury he sustained during the previous season, while Jonny Evans, Casemiro, and Luke Shaw are also recuperating from muscular problems.

United will not play again for another week until they visit Everton in the Premier League. Everton was docked 10 points on Friday for violating the league’s Financial Fair Play policies. Next up for Ten Hag’s team is a crucial midweek Champions League trip to Galatasaray, which they will almost certainly need to win to maintain any chance of moving forward.
