Within minutes of one another, Marcus Rashford and Andre Onana both left Manchester United, adding to the team’s already dire injury situation.
On a busy Friday night of continental action, the two Red Devils were playing for England and Cameroon, respectively.
For their nations, both celebrities kicked off first, but in the second half of their matches, they were replaced.
When Rashford and teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold collided, the knock was received in an odd way.
During the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 qualifying match against Malta in minute 57, the forward from United sprinted to retrieve the ball that was lying on the edge of the box.
Alexander-Arnold was also running to hold onto the ball, and the two collided forcefully, sending them to the ground.
Following medical assistance, Rashford attempted to walk off the knock, but he was unable to continue as he appeared to get worse.
In the sixty-first minute, Cole Palmer, a Chelsea player and England rookie, took his position after Gareth Southgate withdrew him.
Just minutes before Rashford’s injury, the Red Devils had substituted their goalkeeper, as if that wasn’t reason enough for alarm.
Cameroon defeated Mauritius 3-0 in World Cup qualifying, however Onana was replaced in goal in the 80th minute due to a knock.
Many of United’s star players, including Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, and Tyrell Malacia, are now also sidelined.
