Man City are facing an injury crisis ahead of their Premier League clash with Liverpool, with a total of nine players absent due to injury.
Striker Erling Haaland just suffered an ankle injury in Norway’s EURO 2024 qualifying match against the Faroe Islands on Thursday. This causes Man City’s injury list to expand to 9 players before the match with The Kop.
The Norwegian team doctor confirmed that Haaland had twisted his ankle although the severity of the problem is yet to be determined. And up to this point, he is still considered absent from the match against Liverpool.
In addition to Haaland, Man City is also missing John Stones, Sergio Gomez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson, Nathan Ake, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes. Midfielder Rodri also limped out of training in Spain on Wednesday.
The injury crisis makes Man City’s situation even more difficult. They were just held to a 4-4 draw by Chelsea last weekend and are likely to lose first place to Liverpool if they lose to this same opponent.
Fortunately, there is still about a week left from now until the match with Liverpool. And Man City fans are hoping that some of these 9 people can recover in time.
Otherwise, they will have to rely on the talent of coach Pep Guardiola. The Spanish strategist has repeatedly shown his skill when choosing unexpected options for the squad. And Green Man fans are hoping he will be able to create the next surprise.
