Due to his spouse, De Gea declined a £500,000-per-week offer to reunite with former Manchester United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo; however, he is eager to join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
Reportedly, former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea declined the offer to travel to Saudi Arabia to join former United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Since leaving United in the summer, the 32-year-old has been without a club; Erik ten Hag has since acquired Cameroonian international Andre Onana to replace him in goal.
This is according to The Sun, which reports that the goalkeeper recently declined a lucrative contract with Al-Nassr of the Saudi Pro League.
A deal worth 500,000 pounds was presented to De Gea, but he declined it due to his wife’s lack of interest in relocating to the Middle East.
Nawaf Al-Aqidi, a Saudi Arabian international, has started eleven league games for Al-Nassr this season but has only recorded three clean sheets despite the club’s second-place standing.
Even a transfer to the Major League Soccer (MLS) is reportedly a possibility for David Beckham’s Inter Miami, who are reportedly interested in signing the former Spain international to the DRV PNK Stadium.
De Gea would join a Spanish-speaking contingent that also includes Lionel Messi, former international teammates Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, should he decide to pursue a transfer to the Sunshine State of America.
A move closer to home is also a possibility, as the 32-year-old has been linked with an unexpected return to Spain to play club football for the first time since leaving Atletico Madrid in 2011.
According to reports from the country, De Gea met with Eldense representatives earlier this month in discussion of the possibility of him acquiring an ownership stake in the club as part of a potential deal.
According to reports, Valencia and Real Betis are also interested in signing the Premier League champion; however, the player’s wage demands diminish the probability of a successful agreement.
