Despite a lackluster start to the season, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has refuted any speculation that he may be on the verge of a major transfer to Saudi Arabia.

The Red Devils have suffered five defeats in their first twelve Premier League matches this season, placing manager Erik ten Hag and key personnel within the squad under intense scrutiny. Such treatment is not unique to Fernandes, particularly considering that he only acquired the armband during the summer.

Fernandes was appointed captain subsequent to the dismissal of predecessor Harry Maguire; however, the Portugal international’s tenure has been far from trouble-free. United, who are sixth in the league table and have been eliminated in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, are not assured of advancing from their Champions League group.

The impending January transfer window has caused considerable concern regarding the futures of several United players. The speculation that Fernandes will depart from Old Trafford, on the other hand, seems to be exaggerated.

Despite this, the 28-year-old did express his displeasure with the manner in which United have begun the current season. Fernandes uttered the remarks while on international duty with Portugal.

Fernandes would love to have international teammate at Man United

“United and the national team are my current priorities. “I am content with my current situation,” Fernandes told Sport TV Portugal. “We experienced some prosperous moments with the national team, but our start at Manchester United was less than ideal.

“I do not consider rumors.” They receive no attention from me. It is incredibly simple to spread rumors in the press today. “I prefer to focus on my objectives.”

Despite the undeniable fact that Fernandes is one of the most valuable acquisitions of United since Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure, he has been subjected to considerable criticism throughout his almost four years with the club.

Even as recently as this season, club legends such as Roy Keane have questioned whether former Sporting star Fernandes is deserving of captaincy at a club of United’s stature.

This season, Fernandes has scored a mere four goals in seventeen appearances across all competitions. Despite the fact that one of those came earlier this month in the form of a last-gasp winner away at Fulham, he will not be under any doubt that he must improve his performance sooner rather than later for the benefit of United.
