Manchester United want to recruit a stirring star in Europe

Fabrizio Romano, a transfer insider, has provided an update on Manchester United’s pursuit of Jonathan Tah, a center-back of the highest caliber for Bayer Leverkusen.

Twenty-cap international for Germany, the player appeared to be leaving Leverkusen last summer, but former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has revitalized his career.

In fact, Tah has led Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga standings with a record of 10 victories in 11 matches and 10 goals conceded. Additionally, the Germans lead their Europa League group with four victories in four contests.

Tah has started every Bundesliga match to date and has contributed to his impressive performances with three goals.

In light of United’s current requirement for an additional central defender, it is unsurprising that Erik ten Hag is closely monitoring the 27-year-old.

However, Tah is not only desired in Manchester; Newcastle is also interested in the 6ft 5in colossus, as we recently reported.

However, regarding the Red Devils’ current state of interest, Romano has provided an update on whether or not a transfer for Tah is possible.

United fans shouldn’t place too much stock in the rumors involving Tah, according to Romano’s CaughtOffside column, because Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo remains the primary target for United.

Despite the likelihood that United will continue to prioritize the acquisition of a center-back in 2024, Romano stated, “At this time, I am not hearing anything regarding Tah.”

Todibo has performed admirably for Nice, who are currently second in Ligue 1, one point behind Paris Saint-Germain, led by Luis Enrique.

In contrast, Tah is regarded as being more compatible with the Premier League environment than Todibo, which presumably explains the interest of both Manchester United and Newcastle in acquiring him.

However, Todibo and Tah are not the only players on Ten Hag’s radar; Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton and Antonio Silva have also been mentioned.

It is anticipated that United will increase their transfer activity following the augmentation of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25% stake in the club.

The United fan is prepared to assume responsibility for the football operations, including player contracts, transfers, and more, and is willing to invest heavily to get United back on track.

Additionally, Paul Mitchell has been strongly linked with the position of sporting director, and he may be available to assist Ratcliffe during its first transfer window of the following summer.

United will return to action on November 26 when they travel to Everton in the Premier League to face one of those targets, Mark Hughes.
