The latest injury suffered by Erling Haaland has been deemed “not serious,” and he is anticipated to be available to face Liverpool this weekend.
On Saturday at lunchtime, City will host Jurgen Klopp’s squad at the Etihad, where they stand one point ahead of the opposition in the standings. With 13 goals in 12 games, Haaland has been in outstanding form this season and leads the Premier League in scoring.
Earlier this week, however, it was confirmed that the forward would miss Norway’s European Championship qualifier against Scotland at Hampden Park on Sunday night due to a recurrence of an ankle injury, which cast doubt on his ability to start against the Reds.
However, journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Haaland’s injury is not severe and that he will be available to compete in the match this weekend. He wrote on X, “Be aware that Erling Haaland’s injury is not severe; he will be available to play against Liverpool for City.” With his injury, Haaland will not take the risk of playing against Scotland, but he will return frequently for Manchester City.
Ola Sand, the team physician for Norway, commented on Haaland’s injury on TV2: “Although the injury is not life-threatening, he is in considerable discomfort and is somewhat restricted, which makes the Scotland match a bit premature.
“The situation was remarkably similar to what transpired against Bournemouth fifteen days ago.” Additionally, he has had it before.
“A minor twist occurs in his ankle, rendering him marginally susceptible. It hurts intensely at first, but then subsides relatively quickly. We will then see how he is tomorrow.”
