Unhappy at Old Trafford, Raphael Varane leaves Man United to join the European giant?

The ‘unhappy’ center back for Manchester United, Raphael Varane, has been linked with a transfer to Bundesliga powerhouses Bayern Munich.

Varane, who joined United from Real Madrid for £42 million in 2021, formed a strong partnership with Lisandro Martinez the previous campaign.

Despite United manager Erik ten Hag’s denials of a dispute with the French defender, he has consistently chosen to omit the four-time Champions League champion.

Ten Hag has frequently paired the Englishman with 35-year-old Jonny Evans or Victor Lindelof, leaving Varane on the sideline, since Harry Maguire’s form has returned.

The former Real Madrid player is currently being linked with a possible January departure from Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag has insisted that leaving the Frenchman out has not been the result of a fallout

Erik ten Hag has maintained that the Frenchman’s exclusion was not due to a disagreement.

Sky Sports Germany reports that Bayern Munich, the reigning Bundesliga champions, have discussed the possibility of bringing the 30-year-old to the Allianz Arena.

Varane might be acquired for as little as €20 million (£17.5 million) to €30 million (£26.2 million), which seems like an absolute steal for a defender of his caliber.

The true stumbling block, however, would be the Frenchman’s salary, which places him among the highest-paid players at United at approximately £340,000 per week.

Varane, despite earning such a high salary, has only made one start in his last eight matches for Manchester United.

Ten Hag has maintained that the World Cup champion’s benching was a tactical decision and not the consequence of any repercussions.

The Dutchman stated, “I chose these partnerships for tactical purposes.” In my opinion, Harry and Jonny performed admirably.

Harry didn’t play frequently the year before, so I was extremely satisfied with Rapha’s performances. I have been consistently pleased with his performances. Currently, however, Harry is performing exceptionally well, and there is intense internal competition.

The future trajectory of Varane is uncertain, and at this time, it is not known whether he will strive for a transfer or contend for his position.
