Chelsea might sign ‘world-class’ star for £100 million next summer

If Chelsea waits until next summer, they could be able to recruit Victor Osimhen for less than Napoli’s current asking price.

Journalist Ben Jacobs, who has been speaking with GiveMeSport, says as much.

Chelsea is presently considering adding a new striker, and one player they are interested in is Victor Osimhen.

However, considering the 24-year-old’s significance to Napoli, a January deal appears to be rather difficult. This season, he has made eight appearances in Serie A and scored six goals.

Victor Osimhen could cost £100m next summer

Jacobs claims that Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of Napoli, has consistently desired Osimhen to fetch either €150 million (£131 million) or €160 million (£140 million).

The journalist has informed GiveMeSport, nevertheless, that because the Nigerian’s contract is expiring, the amount would probably be closer to £100 million during the summer transfer window.

Osimhen, who moved from Lille to Napoli back in 2020, will be available for free in 2025.

In the market as it exists now, definitely. Like Osimhen, who was recently praised as a “world-class striker” by AS Monaco’s Folarin Balogun in an interview with ESPN, midfielders are not game-winners; instead, they are trying for more.

The Nigerian international made 32 league appearances for Napoli last season, scoring 26 goals. These goals not only helped his team win games, but they also helped the team win their first Serie A championship in thirty-three years.

Chelsea wants to win the league title again, and without a productive center-forward, they will not be able to achieve their goal.

In the Blues’ last two games, Nicolas Jackson has scored three goals against Tottenham Hotspur and once against Manchester City. He has little trouble finding the back of the net.

The 22-year-old might be Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea’s solution if he can maintain his current level of performance.

If not, though, the club will most likely need to go out and purchase someone akin to Osimhen.
