Chelsea have finally made a decision on retaining their £320k-a-week striker, despite confirmed interest from Italy

Chelsea are trying to offload striker Romelu Lukaku in order to bankroll their own striker search, with the common consensus being that they may want a proven goalscorer.

With two and a half years remaining on his contract, the Belgium striker is Chelsea’s highest-paid player.

Lukaku has found form under Jose Mourinho at Roma, where he has nine goals in 14 games and four for his country the other night.

Even though there have been moments when many have questioned his commitment, particularly at Chelsea, there has never been any dispute about his goal-scoring talents.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea will now attempt to capitalize on his form, with Roma, Juventus, and even AC Milan all interested.

Chelsea have set a fee of £37 million for the 30-year-old striker, which Roma are willing to pay if he maintains his current form.

Last summer, the 30-year-old turned down a move to Saudi Arabia, stating that he would rather stay in Italy, where he has always excelled.

The Blues have developed a new club in the last two transfer windows, spending nearly a billion pounds despite having nearly 11 players who would balance the books.

N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, and Kalidou Koulibaly all departed the club, as did Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, and Kai Havertz.

Since then, Chelsea has brought in players like as Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, and Axel Disasi as the club’s owners seek to develop one of the truly successful enterprises.
