Tyrese Haliburton led the Indiana Pacers to a 157-152 triumph over the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, setting a franchise scoring record and clinching a quarterfinal berth in the In-Season Tournament.
Buddy Hield scored a pair of 3-pointers down the stretch, including one with 53 seconds remaining to put the Pacers up 155-152.
Indiana trailed by 20 points in the third quarter until Haliburton dished out 16 assists, Hield finished with 24 points, and Obi Toppin added 21 off the bench.
The Pacers are 3-0 in East Group A with one game remaining, while the Hawks are 1-2.
Trae Young led Atlanta with 38 points and eight assists, while Dejounte Murray scored 28 points and Bogdan Bogdanovic had 26 on 10-of-15 shooting.
The Hawks led 86-73 at halftime, setting a franchise record for points in the first half.
Allen propels the Cavaliers to an overtime victory over the 76ers
Jarrett Allen scored six of his 26 points in overtime, and Darius Garland added 32, to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 122-119 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in the In-Season Tournament on Tuesday.
Cleveland was without Donovan Mitchell, Carmelo Anthony, and Isaac Okoro due to injuries, but had six players score in double figures to keep the Eastern Conference wild-card spot alive.
The 76ers were eliminated from tournament contention with their third straight home loss, as Joel Embiid scored 32 points and Tyrese Maxey added 30.
With 18 seconds left in overtime, Allen’s hook shot gave the Cavs a one-point lead before Embiid and Maxey missed layups on the other end.
Durant goes up the scoring leaderboard following the Suns’ victory
The Phoenix Suns defeated the floundering Portland Trail Blazers 120-107 in an In-Season Tournament game on Tuesday, with Kevin Durant scoring 31 points to overtake Elvin Hayes for 11th on the all-time scoring list.
Durant, who was playing in his 1,000th NBA game, outscored Hayes 6 to 6 in the first quarter.
Phoenix won its fourth straight game thanks to 28 points from Devin Booker and 18 points and 12 rebounds from Jusuf Nurkic.
The Phoenix crowd booed Deandre Ayton strongly in his first game against the Suns after he was moved to Portland in a three-team transaction that also sent Damian Lillard to Milwaukee.
As the Blazers lost their eighth game in a row, Ayton finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.
