According to a recent report, Manchester United is prepared to up its offer to secure one of their summer targets in January.

The Red Devils manager seems eager to expand his options at center-back in the upcoming year. He has already been linked to moves for Gianluca Mancini of AS Roma, Robin Le Normand of Real Sociedad, and Castello Lukeba of RB Leipzig, but he is also keeping an eye out for a backup in case any of the three deals fall through.

Though it’s not the first time he’s been under the spotlight at Old Trafford, Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo has solidly established himself as Francesco Farioli’s overall best-performing player thus far this campaign with a match rating of 7.23 (WhoScored – Nice statistics).

The 23-year-old French international held representative talks about joining the Premier League over the summer. Although a deal did not materialize before the deadline, Ligue 1 side is now willing to let go of the player, giving chiefs the ideal second chance to sign their desired player.

Spanish rumors (via CaughtOffside) claim that Man United is willing to make a bid for Todibo before January. Ten Hag is apparently one of his main objectives for the upcoming transfer window, and he is willing to boost his bid for the defender.

This may be one to keep a careful eye on in the coming weeks and months. The M16 side had previously been willing to table €35 million (£30 million) for the colossus, but it has since been suggested that they would be keen to boost that to €40 million (£35 million) in order to get a deal over the line.

Todibo, who is six feet two, is a great physical presence at the center of a backline because of his height. This season at Nice, he has demonstrated this ability, averaging 2.8 clearances, two tackles, and 1.6 aerial wins per game in Ligue 1 (WhoScored – Todibo info).

The Cayenne native demonstrates that he can be just as strong with the ball at his feet as he is when clearing the ball off the ground by remaining incredibly controlled and serene when in possession, where he is currently registering a 90.1% pass success rate.

Ten Hag’s target, sponsored by Adidas, has experience playing defensive midfield (Transfermarkt – Todibo stats). His adaptability to cover in positions other than his own will undoubtedly be another appealing quality to the board, who will be closely observing his performances.

Todibo is the “complete package,” according to football talent scout Jacek Kulig, and Man United is obviously serious in signing him as they are considering a second attempt. Therefore, it would be a major victory if their long-term goal was to sign a contract in January.
