On Wednesday, Jaylen Brown led the Boston Celtics to a 119-116 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks, scoring 26 points and dishing out eight assists.
Brown hit 10 of his 16 field-goal tries, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. Boston dominated from start to finish, making 17 of 42 3-point tries (40.5 percent). Seven Celtics made at least two 3-pointers.
With 1:30 remaining, Boston led 114-105 on a Jayson Tatum dunk, but Milwaukee closed to within three points with 44 seconds left on back-to-back 3-pointers by Khris Middleton and Damian Lillard.
With 11.6 seconds remaining, Tatum converted three free throws to extend Boston’s lead to 117-111, and Boston led 119-113 until Malik Beasley hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Tatum had 23 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists in the game. The Celtics’ Kristaps Porzingis (21 points), Derrick White (13 points), Al Horford (11 points), Sam Hauser (10) and Payton Pritchard (10) all scored in double figures. White also hit three three-pointers. Tatum, Porzingis, Hauser, Horford, and Pritchard all had two.
Brook Lopez of Milwaukee topped all scorers with 28 points. Lillard finished with 27 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 21 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, and two steals as their five-game winning streak came to an end. Boston has won seven of their last eight games.
The Celtics scored the first ten points of the game and led 29-17 at the half. In the session, the Bucks shot 26.9 percent (7 of 26).
Boston led by as many as 21 points in the second quarter and was up 67-53 at the half. The Celtics made 12 of their 23 3-point tries (52.2 percent) in the first half and shot 58.1 percent from the field (25 of 43).
The Bucks cut the lead to 67-59 with 10:42 left in the third on a Middleton jumper, but they couldn’t go any closer. Boston led 94-79 going into the fourth quarter.
Boston improved to 6-0 at home with the win.
