Despite some suggestions to the contrary, Liverpool appear unlikely to sign Andre in the January transfer window.

According to reports, the Brazilian is more likely to join Fulham.

This means that Jurgen Klopp needs to find a new target, and who better to sign than the player Fulham is hoping to replace with Andre: Joao Palhinha.

The Portugal international is vastly underappreciated and would be an excellent addition to Liverpool’s squad.

His size, tackling ability, and Premier League experience make him an ideal transfer target.

Palhinha will cost less than the €60 million to €65 million Bayern Munich were planning to spend in the summer before his move to the Allianz Arena fell through at the last minute.

Fulham have suggested to Sky Germany writer Florian Plettenberg that they will sell the 28-year-old to Bayern Munich for a cheaper cost than the “planned €60m-€65m in the summer.”

Palhinha is still on Bayern’s transfer list, according to the writer, but they will not pay more than €60 million to sign him in January.

He adds that signing him is a financial concern that is “far from being done.”

With Bayern yet to initiate discussions for Palhinha, Liverpool has an excellent opportunity to rekindle their interest.

Andre was an intriguing choice because of his ability to play as a no.6 while also excelling as a left-sided no.8.

With Thiago Alcantara’s contract expiring at the conclusion of the season, he might have covered depth needs in two areas.

Palhinha, on the other hand, is a natural defensive midfielder, which is exactly what Klopp’s team requires.
