Chelsea are interested in Napoli midfielder Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, whose entrance at Stamford Bridge might obstruct Mykhailo Mudryk’s road to the starting XI. However, Romano revealed on Substack that they presently have no plans to sign a new winger.
According to the Italian journalist, “they still believe” the 22-year-old will be a vital wide man for them in the future and have not opted to improve his position as things currently stand.
Mudryk has struggled at Chelsea, with one coach from his former club Shakhtar Donetsk blaming it on the Blues’ inability to play as a unit, but he has improved recently. After failing to score for the club last season, he has now scored twice this season.
Too early to start thinking about replacing Mykhailo Mudryk
While Mudryk has struggled at Stamford Bridge, the Ukrainian has only been there for a short time.
We believe he should be given more time before Chelsea considers bringing in a replacement.
Having said that, someone like Kvaratskhelia may prove to be too fantastic of a chance to pass up. He was fantastic for Napoli last season, scoring 22 goals in Serie A to help his team win the title.
If Chelsea does not bring in a player of that caliber, Mauricio Pochettino is better off trying to develop Mudryk, on whom the club clearly spent a lot of money.
Finally, while the Blues should maintain their faith in such a large commitment, there is nothing wrong with keeping their options open in case an incredible opportunity comes itself.
