After partnering with Darwin Nunez when they were both on the Uruguay national team, Liverpool great Luis Suarez has heaped praise on the current Reds attacker.

A decade or so ago, Suarez was a standout player for Liverpool. From 2014 until 2020, he continued to dazzle with his performances throughout a very successful stint with Barcelona.

Nunez is now one of Liverpool’s primary offensive options, and although opinions on his performance during his brief stay at Anfield are divided, Suarez appears to be a huge supporter of his compatriot, calling Nunez among the greatest in the world in his position.

Nunez made a big impression while playing for Benfica, and this season he may be starting to prove himself more consistently while wearing a Liverpool shirt. However, only time will tell if Nunez can ever genuinely rank among the best attackers in the league.

After playing with him at the international level, Suarez might be a little biased, but such a great player also has some experience as a top striker at the greatest level.

In reference to his position in the Uruguay squad, Suarez stated, “I have one of the best No.9s in the world in front of me today, which is Darwin.”
