After playing alongside Darwin Nunez for the Uruguay national team, Liverpool icon Luis Suarez heaped praise on the current Reds attacker.

Suarez was a top performer for Liverpool roughly 10 years ago before going on to have a tremendously successful tenure with Barcelona from 2014 and 2020.

Nunez is now one of Liverpool’s key attacking outlets, and while the jury is still out on how well he’s done so far at Anfield, it appears Suarez is a huge fan of his fellow countryman, hailing him as one of the finest in the world in his position.

Nunez impressed a lot at Benfica, and he’s starting to show a little more consistency in a Liverpool shirt this season, but only time will tell if he can ever truly be one of the game’s great strikers.

Suarez may be biased after playing with him at the international level, but such a great player also understands what it takes to be a top striker at the highest level.

“I have one of the best No.9s in the world in front of me today, which is Darwin,” Suarez remarked when asked about his spot in Uruguay’s team.
